Seymours Fashions Custom Tailors

I went to Seymours for a pair of custom suits for my wedding. I had looked around at different places, but being relatively inexperienced in suits, I found most other salespeople unhelpful, unlikeable, rushed, or pressuring. Ravi (who is the primary tailor at Seymours) is none of these. I decided to get custom suits made here because I liked how patient and helpful he is. Ravi came recommended by another friend who showed up at my wedding wearing the suit that Ravi had made for him, pointing out a detail that I had missed earlier, the custom stitched label with my name on the inside of the jacket, a nice touch! All told, I think I went back to Seymours four times to get the suits sized and tailored and was happy with them. A custom-made shirt was also included, which fit well. The suits at Seymours are not cheap, but are of far better quality than youre going to find at Indochine or Suitsupply or a department store, and cost less than the custom suits that are sent to made overseas from some other places. I think they are a good value for a suit that will last a long time and is worthy of re-tailoring down the road. But fundamentally, the customer service is what really stands out here. Ravi is clear and conscientious, and was a delight to work with. Recommended.

Ive bought a few suites in my day... with varying success. Sometimes the look is amazing but the fit leaves something to be desired or vice versa. As a proud eternal optimist, I knew the right suite was out there... somewhere... the universe responded by putting Tailors Keep on my radar.I booked an appointment with Ryan for a Saturday afternoon. Ive been to fittings before with Bespoke mens clothing stores, the SuiteSupplies of the world, etc... all good experiences, but it never quite felt right. The venue: Ryans shop is amazing. Super cool layout with a bar setup straight out of GQ. Fabrics, suites/shirts ready for pickup, adorn the walls and serve as creative inspiration for the fitting to come.Ryan is the true MVP here... master of his craft and the energy he projects is very much Im here to listen, advise, and together we are going to create the suite of your dreams. The fitting is very thorough, better than any Id had before. Ryan took the time to explain each and every measurement and the reason behind it. Not only did I come away with a great suite but I learned a lot, too.Last night, I got to pickup my suite. The look, the feel, the fit... all spot on. No additional tweaks needed to be made thanks to the time, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness that went into the original fitting. The suite fits better than I ever could have imagined and the design is exactly what I wanted. More than that, the experience was first class the entire way... Ryan is an expert and a class act all around. If youre ready to invest in the best suite of your life... book an appointment with Ryan today :)

I was dissatisfied with the service I received from Olga. I had a bridesmaids dress that was too small and could not zip up. I was in a time crunch as the wedding date was approaching. I contacted several tailors in the area to fix the issue. Olga responded the same day saying that she could likely fix it, and we promptly scheduled a first meeting. She was also gracious when I had to change the first appointment time. When I arrived to the first appointment, she suggested doing a corset back with the dress, i.e., removing the zipper and replacing it with loops sewn into the back of the dress and a string to tie it up. She said she could use fabric from the bottom of the dress to do this. She convinced me this was the best solution because I could tighten and loosen to my liking. I agreed on the plan and we agreed to come back in one week after the job was done. She said she could finish the task in the agreed upon timeframe. She stated the price would be $120 to do the corset back, and an additional $80 to take a few inches off from the bottom to account for whatever heels I would wear. I thought this was strange, because if she was already going to take fabric from the bottom to do the looping, why do I have to pay an extra $80 to make the dress shorter at the bottom for heels? I asked her and she agreed to forgo the additional $80 and to just do the job for $120.Two days before our appointment, she texted me at night asking to reschedule as she now had other orders and was expecting some delays. Unfortunately, I was flying out of town and could not possibly reschedule. She said okay and we kept our original appointment time. When I arrived to the appointment, she surprised me by letting me know there was actually not enough fabric on the bottom to complete the corset back, so she instead used a cream sheer ribbon to tie the dress together. The ribbon visibly contrasted with the dark burgundy of the dress. This was a shock to me as she had my dress for a week and at no point expressed any issues with the fabric or executing the job. I was frustrated that she had not communicated this issue with me sooner, and instead tried to give me this random solution. I told her during the appointment that this was not what I was expecting and that the string had to be the same color as the dress. She told me to simply go to a fabric store and buy a matching burgundy ribbon for $5. This was unprofessional to ask of a paying customer.I told her I needed her to get the fabric herself and finish the lacing. She agreed and said I could come back in a couple hours. I paid her an additional $5 to cover the cost of the ribbon. When I came back, she hurriedly handed me the dress outside. I said Id like to come up and do a final fitting again, but she repeatedly told me she did not have time. She got visibly annoyed at my asking, and simply showed me the new ribbon was now the correct same color of the dress. I thought this was unfair, as I am a busy lawyer and I took time out of my schedule to meet with her a third time after this unexpected issue. My time is valuable too, and if I pay for a service, I expect to have the job well done, have ample communication should any issues arise, and to do a final fitting with the absolute final product. I did not get that from Olga.I took the dress outside and told her, for the future, she should be more communicative with her customers. I think she means well, but clearly she has time management issues and sometimes bites off more than she can chew. She should not agree to do rush orders if she cannot fully execute. I also think if I did not question or challenge any of the peculiarities that arose during our meetings, she would have charged me $80 more dollars than the job was worth and let me leave with a cream string that did not at all match the dress. This experience fractured my trust in her business. I am glad she fixed the issue, but I will not be returning.

AVOID this DECEITFUL cleaners at all costs. I had three Indian traditional outfits laundered with dresses, pants and shawls. When I picked up my items and left the owner gave no indication whatsoever that he had changed the number of items of on my ticket (and total price) after I dropped them off without consulting me, and had lost one of my dresses. When I went home and discovered that one was missing and inquired, he pretended to not know what I was talking about when he could see that he clearly changed the number of items that I had dropped off. I was planning on wearing this to a wedding and I was very upset. He called me a few days later that he had found it, and when I arrived he showed me that there were holes in the fabric. It was damaged and I have a feeling he was trying to cover it up the whole time and hope that I did not notice. Extremely unprofessional. I will not be returning and urge you to take your business elsewhere to a trustworthy establishment.
Suitsupply

BLUF: Not really worth it. Spend less off the rack and get basic alterations, or go to a real local clothier and get a truly custom-made suit. Pay more but get actual personalized attention and every detail you could want.In the end, I wound up with a fairly good quality suit that was more or less what I was looking for. But the overall experience was not something I walked away from being entirely satisfied.Every time I was there, they were really trying to make it a real bro-y experience: offer a beer, let you hang out as long as you want. Honestly thats me- thats the kind of thing I like. But it felt like the actual suit fittings, they were trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible.First appointment, I had some ideas from looking at Suitsupply online, but I wanted to see fabrics & things first hand. The swatches in the store didnt match up to the options available online-- many I saw online they didnt have. Then after going through the swatches they did have, all but one of the 6-8 I picked were not available. No explanation. I guess having only one choice made it easier. Then we did measurements-- fairly professional overall and comparable to other places I have been. Then the salesperson starts going through options & putting them into the system to create my order. But he didnt ask me about most of them. At the end, I asked about a couple in particular that I wanted. He says, oh we can go back & change that. He just put in all the standard options for a lot of things. In the end I got what I wanted, but if I didnt know ahead of time, I wouldnt have even known I had a choice (e.g. lapel style & width, structure, canvassing-- really everything basic that makes up a suit). But he spent a lot of time gushing over what color lining & collar felt I could get, even though I told him I couldnt care less about the color of those (maybe those are the fun options that sell well. just speculating). The suit comes in pretty quickly. I go for fitting, and they really doubled down on the in-and-out quickly strategy. I had an appointment, but ended up waiting a bit as the salesman was still helping someone else. Fair enough-- Im sure different people take longer than others and you cant schedule that perfectly. But then hes STILL helping one or two other people at the same time as fitting me-- going back and forth, doing something with me while the others are just standing there, and vice-versa. Maybe someone he had to cover someone elses appointments last minute. I dont know. But he tried to do the actual fitting in about 30 seconds total. Didnt ask me a thing. Pinned up the pant legs hem to what he decided was the right length. Same with the jacket sleeves. Ok, that was easy. Youre all good to go. Sorry, but no. I dont like the pants to hit there, the waist is too loose, and theres other things we can tweak, too. Its my suit. Again, I ended up getting everything I wanted, but if I didnt know, I would just be getting the salesmans personal tastes.Lastly, their pant hems are weird. They sew a loop of grosgrain ribbon inside the bottom of the pants, to protect against wear. Good idea! But poorly done in my case and they WOULDNT FIX IT. When I asked, the salesman told me its standard and showed me other pants. But those were charcoal pants with a charcoal ribbon that was almost unnoticeable. My suit is TAN with BRIGHT WHITE grosgrain and very obvious where it was hanging below the hem. It also wasnt even, hanging out a lot more on one side. Worst, the hem pants were noticeably PUCKERED all around the hem. The grosgrain was just not sewn in right. I told the guy: it doesnt look right to me. Please fix it. He said sure, takes them back to the tailor and said quietly to her just press them real well. BS! I said thanks and took them to a local tailor who told me, sure enough, its not sewn in right, and she could remove it or replace it.In the end, I think I got what I paid for. I think the suit is good quality. But the experience is not something I would pay for again.
Elegance Preserved

I had scoured the greater Bay Area for the perfect dress, and after considerable deliberation I decided on the Kandace gown designed by Enzoani, which I was introduced to at Trudy's Brides in Campbell. Trudy's sets the standard for local bridal retail and I was thrilled – if not overwhelmed – by the variety they offer, but this gown was the clear winner. After purchasing my dress (and a complementary veil) I decided I wanted to customize it with beading, which involved very delicate handiwork. Our wedding venue included a large lawn area and redwoods, and the foliage and groundcover necessarily tugged at and soiled my dress during the photo sessions. Fortunately, I managed to not inflict significant damage or incur notable stains, but when all was said and done my once pristine dress and veil needed some loving attention to revive them.I had looked online for top-rated gown preservation companies and Elegance Preserved was a prominent staple in all of my searches, after having applied filters aligned with my very high standards for cleaning and preservation. I had intended to attend to my dress with as little fuss and effort as possible, so as much as I had wanted to inquire with Elegance Preserved I first exhausted all local options. Each and every preservation location I visited was either not equipped for the kind of careful cleaning and preservation I was searching for or didn't even offer these services! In talking with the shop owners Elegance Preserved was consistently highly recommended, and then I learned that Brides of California on the Alameda acted as a drop-off location! Without even calling or looking online I just showed up at their store, dress in tow, and within minutes the staff there had organized and facilitated the cleaning and preservation of both my gown and veil with Elegance Preserved. My dress and veil were inspected, and after filling out minimal paperwork I left both in the capable hands of Brides of California with high expectations. My dealings with Elegance Preserved have proved to be wonderfully pleasant and efficient. The staff is incredibly personable, responsive, attentive and competent. Any questions I had were quickly clarified, and their business model and operations process are cohesive, regulated and comprehensive. I had absolutely nothing to worry about and the onus was never on me to figure out any logistics or terms and conditions – all were provided without solicitation. The cleaning and preservation were performed relatively quickly, and I couldn't be more enamored with the quality of the work; this is all the more impressive due to the delicate nature of the fabric and applique. Not only that, but in my conversations with Brides of California I had mistakenly been under the impression that their store also constituted a pick-up location, and that my dress would be shipped back after completion of services. That was not in fact their policy, but Elegance Preserved and Brides of California made an exception, and I am so very grateful; not just for the convenience, but because it demonstrated the care and investment in customers and garments that set these companies apart from the competition.

Mixed feelings. My partner and I were happy to find jackets we liked, thanks to the help of one of the employees. However, our experience took a downturn when I asked about certain pants and colour. One of the staff members response was off-putting and plainly rude, and things only worsened as he followed us around the store without explanation. While I understand that SF theft situation is out of control, this behavior was unjustified and uncomfortable. We were close to leaving, if it wasnt for us really liking the jackets weve found. Its unfortunate that the excellence from one staff member was overshadowed by the negative attitude of another. We left right after paying for those jackets and went shopping somewhere else.
Mulberrys Dry Cleaners and Laundry
244 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States
I used to love Mulberrys and had a very favorable opinion of them, until recently. Staff were always super friendly and helpful, and I was always alerted to my clothes being ready in a timely manner - usually ahead of schedule. I was even given several coupons for being a returning customer, which was a nice touch!Within the past 3 months, this place has seriously gone downhill. It seems as if there is a new owner/management, because the staff seems to all be new and have no idea whats going on. They havent alerted me to my past two items being ready and Ive had to call the store to find out where they were. But they never seem to answer the phone anymore, so I have to call repeatedly and leave voicemails to get to anyone.Due to Mulberrys being convienently located to my apartment, I still used them to clean and preserve my wedding dress. Big mistake. Ive been calling every few weeks for 2-3 months now trying to get an ETA for when my dress might be completed. Then, today, I just received an email saying that my item has been ready for over 30 days and that I will be charged a $10 storage fee! You could imagine my shock at seeing this! I called and called the store, left a voicemail, and called again until I finally got to someone. The manager assured me that it was an automated message and that I would not be charged, but still this situation has confirmed that I will not be using Mulberrys ever again.Really sad to see such a great business fail.Editing to add: I just went and picked up my wedding dress and when I walked in I found the staff arguing with a customer about the price of a dry cleaning item. Though the price was only ~$20, I was raised to believe that the customer is generally always right, and I was shocked that the staff wouldnt just comp this womans dry cleaning. She left without the item because they wouldnt let her take it without paying, and a manager would only be in on Friday - 3 days from now. Just solidifies my choice to not come back here.
Mulberrys Dry Cleaners and Laundry
2295 Filbert St, San Francisco, CA 94123, United States
I, unfortunately, cannot recommend this dry cleaner to anyone. For the first two months that I used Mulberrys, their service was marginal. I would arrange for pick-up and drop off. The pick-up always went smoothly, but there was never any follow-through on the drop-off. Each time I would receive an email informing me that my dry cleaning was ready, I had to call to ensure that it would be delivered. On several occasions, the man on the phone did not know how to arrange a drop-off, and in these cases, had to pick up the cleaning in person. At least my clothes came back clean.Aside from the problems with the drop-off/pick-up service, the last time I utilized the service (before deciding to end my relationship with the cleaners), many of my items came back dirtier than I sent them. A polo destroyed with stains, a pair of $500 jeans laundered and shrunk beyond where I could wear them, a white shirt with stains untreated and yellowing, a pair of white jeans yellowed and stained, and a pair of pleated pants not pleated. I have to second what many people have written before me and say that the Mulberrys just doesnt care. There is not attention to detail, and for the amount of money they charge, ones clothes should be returned in perfect condition each and every time.I reached out to customer service on the first occasion about the pick-up and delivery service to which they disbursed a $20 credit. When I reached out about the damaged clothing, they simply didnt reply. If you have clothes that you love and in which you take pride, DO NOT take them to Mulberrys.

Always such a nice experience and top-notch work! They are just so kind, and the prices are very reasonable. My partner discovered them first and loves their dry cleaning for his shirts, as well as the mending for rips in his pants or shirt elbows. Ive also been amazed at how they get out tough stains (grass, oil, makeup, food, etc.) that my home treatments havent been able to budge. Mending on my clothes and fit alterations have also been sturdy, giving them new life.Im looking forward to working with them on a vintage coat that I thrifted that needs a few repairs — loose buttons, ripped belt, nipped at the waist. I have full confidence that they will knock it out of the park.
