Santos Tailor Shop & Dry Cleaning
11319 Massachusetts Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025, United States
Shrunk all of the sweaters and shirts I took in for dry cleaning. The owner refused to provide any form of compensation or settle, even at amounts that were half the value of the ruined clothes. This prompted a months long saga wherein I had to file a small claims case, get a lawyer to write a demand letter (at personal expense), and visit the shop several times to argue my case (in addition to having to try on the shrunken clothes multiple times for Santos, at his insistence). The owner made a habit of lying to me through this process and behaved disreputably. Only after huge burden and stress did owner eventually settle for less than half the value of the clothes. This result came about only after a lawyer got involved (at significant expense) and it became clear to Santo/owner that he would be forced to pay more if we went to court. I highly advise you find a less shady place to do business.

Moses who owns the business is a gentleman who has been trained in the art of tailoring in England. He has been doing this his entire life and is extremely skilled wise and experienced. I took both my wedding suit and another suit for my sister-in-laws waiting here for adjustments and they were spot-on. Moses is an elite-level Taylor at a very reasonable price highly recommended.
Paragon Dry Cleaners & Alterations
1310 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States
I had pants altered, returned them due to incorrect fit, waited 8 days, and nothing was done. The seamstress verbally confronted me rudely stating that her work was perfect, and that it was my issue to deal with as her work was totally correct. Here is the full context. I had a pair of pants hemmed by the seamstress, they fit too short at the leg, so I returned them 8 days ago for fixing, and nearly 2 weeks later the pants had not even been touched. After I checked in with the nice gentlemen at the front, she interrupts verbally from the back area, and confronts me head on asserting that her work was perfectly measured, that she will not adjust my pants without charging me again an additional $25 (cost of hemming), and that I can frankly take it or leave it.I gathered my unfinished items and left very disappointed. I really miss the middle eastern seamstress who was such a sweetheart, and never made anyone feel like this. I really liked this place, and sad that I need to take my business elsewhere as I live only one block away. Before leaving I explained to her that I am not challenging her work quality, but rather was asking if she could simply help me let them out a bit. This is an example of where convenience does not always equal worthwhile.I am not sure if the owner of Paragon reads these reviews, but if he or she does, I apologize that I need to take my business elsewhere. This is certainly not a reflection of the whole staff, as I have previously always had an exceptional experience here. Thanks for all the help in the past.
Mens Wearhouse

Title: Beginning to end experience of creating a custom suit on a 2-week turnaround timeI was in need of a quality suit that could be used for interviews and meetings but would also be acceptable to my fiancé for our wedding day. We had gotten side tracked with other details so I had let the decision of renting or buying fall late in the game, it was the end of September and my wedding day was quickly approaching on 10/22. I went back in forth about getting the bespoke experience, but was looking to keep the expense of the suit to a fairly reasonable range; so I was considering renting and then exploring the bespoke option at a later date. I ended up going with Men's Wearhouse and couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome, I worked with Gabriel as far as creating the suit picking fabrics that would be light weight since I tend to run on the warm side during any engagement. I settled on a sharkskin blue because of the versatility in use, from job interview to wedding day, to even a nice evening out at a show. Do your homework before you go in (if you have a preference between half canvas and full canvas suit ask about those option) so you can assist the associate in displaying options that best meet your needs and represent the style you want to convey and feel comfortable wearing. Gabriel did just that an although I had done my research, it was nice to have additional input when making decisions on lapel, cuffs, pocket, felt, and venting options and even received assistance from the store manager Raphael Edwards as well; all of which when I received the finished product makes the suit standout from an off the rack suit (fused) and even made to measure template suit. As I still have a Pronto Uomo Platinum sharkskin suit coat purchased in 2014 that is in fairly good condition. As far as measurements if I'm recollecting properly Gabriel took the majority of the standard measurements and the remainder were completed when I arrived for my first fitting 10/13.The first fitting I was greeted by Gabriel to see the suit in progress and tailor Don Julio, who was masterful in quickly pinning the suit in a fashion that was flattering providing input on the recommended tailoring choices, which resulted in a suit that definitely fits but leaves some room for comfort and movement. Throughout the fitting process my input on the fit selection pinned was obtained as well as the affirmation on the final cut decision. After some chalk work, I was quickly off with an estimated delivery date for the final product of Saturday 10/15. I received a call a day early and was able to come in on Friday 10/14 for the final fitting. The final fitting, I was again greeted by Gabriel who displayed the close to finished product which was a really nice suit, we did some additional touch ups to the shoulders as they seemed to be displaying ripples that I wanted to be smoother in shape. In addition, I forgot to get the vest added at time the suit was ordered so ordered a Joseph Abboud in grey to contrast against the sharkskin blue; and it kept popping up at the top off of my chest when I had on the suit jacket. Don Julio after some observation spotted that it appeared the vest had been stretched, Gabriel grabbed the same vest from the floor and when I slipped that on with the suit jacket it was a much better suit without separation from my chest at the top when wearing the suit jacket. Ultimately, I left out of there with some additional tailoring to some sports coats because Don Julio's cut and eye were synchronized with the way I envisioned the clothes when wearing them. I definitely plan to come back, however; I do want to take it to the next level and check out the full small mom and pop bespoke experience to better understand the differences in process and finished product.Thank you!!! Gabriel, Don Julio, and Raphael!!!
Fazio Cleaners
11702 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049, United States
If youre looking for a cleaner, just stop looking and use Fazio. I took a white shirt with collar stains and a chocolate stain on it, thought there was no way to save it, and when I came to pick it up, it looked brand new, as if I had never worn it in my life. Before I came to Fazio, I took a different shirt, with a wine stain on it, to a different cleaner. They did a first cleaning, got 50% of the stain out, but it was very noticeable. I asked them to re-wash it, and it was still very noticeable. I was about to give up on this shirt. After taking that white shirt to Fazio, I decided to see if they could work their magic again on this wine stain. Three days later, I picked up the shirt and it looked brand new. Cant see the stain whatsoever. Their prices are amazing, the shop is very clean, they have a big parking lot, theyre in a central location, the hours and turnaround are great, the people are nice, and the quality of work is the best Ive seen from a cleaner. Will continue to come back.Update: Downgrading this from 5 stars to 4 stars after I did some alterations through them. Brought 2 pants in for some basic hemming. The work was mediocre, they said itd be done in a week, took more than a week, and was expensive.
Pico Cleaners
9150 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035, United States
I came here from a coupon I received in the mail expecting good service given the area and next door competitor. I needed to get two thrifted jackets dry cleaned before I introduced them into my wardrobe out of caution. I received my order, and everything went perfectly well until I received a call the next day claiming I picked up two jackets, one of which did not belong to me. During the phone call interaction, I was asked several times if I was sure I didnt receive another customers order. After stating several times that I had not, I was then questioned why I hadnt noticed one of my jackets was missing. I honestly didnt think to check, given that I had no need for the jackets right now and didnt think that a store that handled thousands of pieces would mess up my order. After stating once more that I did not take someone elses piece and I had only one piece, I was told several times that they wanted me to come in and that they would be checking the cameras to ensure I hadnt taken someone elses piece. To be accused several times of lying about taking someone elses pieces and being told twice that they would be checking the cameras to verify my claims, was embarrassing. Why would I lie about what I have? Being threatened with looking at camera footage twice and being treated like a thief is not worth me coming back, especially when they have a competitor right next door.

Took so long to post a review because I just wanted to let this issue go, but winter is coming and I am still angry about what happened a year ago! I came here because of the good reviews and my apartment building also referred me to this place. I took 4 jackets that had oil on them and the guy that was there was very nice, he told me that if they cant get out the stains, the bill was going to be free. Next time I came in, the owner was there and I told him about what the other guy told me and said that that wasnt true, so I said ok whatever, it happens. they took so long to clean the jackets but wasnt a problem because it was summer so I wasnt going to use them at that moment. Came to pick the 4 jackets and I was surprised that the bill was huge! Most of the oil came off of the jackets, but you can still see some stains.. Anyway winter came and I wore one of the jackets, as soon as I wore the jacket, my face was turning red! I had a huge burn in my face! I had to remove the jacket because it was burning so bad. I went to Cleaners La after what happened to talk to the owner and explain the situation, I ask him if he used chemicals to clean the jackets because my jacket burn my face, and he said no, that their products were all natural and he seem mad with an attitude and confused, repeating the same stuff all over again. He didnt resolved anything! didnt apologize, nothing!I am beyond mad because I cant use any of my jackets, every time I try them on I get burns, and my skin is not that sensitive. I feel like I got scammed and lied by the owner, of course they use chemicals if the products burn your face!Never going back again and I will recommend to save yourself time and money and go somewhere else.

Im not here to tell you that you shouldnt use this business. Thats your decision, regardless of our review. Were here to tell you what to expect: outrageous prices, rudeness (if you dare to ask pertinent questions), and of course, extremely lengthy delivery times. Knowing the people behind the counter, from what we heard, first hand, and how we were treated, we know any apology would be an empty one to just (try to) look good online. In essence, we wanted to dry-clean my (simple) wedding dress, and a couple of other items. Said dress would take a month or longer and almost $200. Another little summer dress that I bought in the neighborhood (again, to try to help a small business) would cost me more to dry clean ($16) at this place, than what I paid for it. I was afraid to ask for the cost of the rest of the items. When my husband and I (both neighbors, both professionals, both invested in the community) said No, thank you, thats OK to those prices, someone yelled from inside a room, you can go to another CHEAP place. Then I replied, You mean more cost-effective? Then the same guy yelled back, Its called CHEAP. So we left, and of course, well never be back there. When did some small businesses start being so entitled and obnoxious? While we dont have to dry clean all the time, and some might consider this a luxury, treating neighbors with disrespect is never the way to gain business or recommendations. Please do better with your personal attitude, customer service, and of course, your offering. After seeing your reply:As expected, the let me try to look good online pre-fabricated answer… Another issue with small businesses trying to ignore genuine concerns.Id have to agree with you regarding your mother. She simply tried to tell us the prices. We, too, reserve the right to refuse a service that wont meet our expectations. You shouldnt be upset or rude because of that. It denotes a certain level of immaturity.Your mothers business deserves better. Youre creating issues for her with your attitude and the seriously troubling answers online; accusing people with outrageous lies, and worse, implying that you have more rights than others, because of when they moved to the neighborhood or when they became citizens of this country. Extremely disrespectful, borderline insulting, and racist (it doesnt matter who I am or where I came from). Youre doing your mothers business (not yours) a big disservice. Frankly, your reply is worthy of a closer examination of your business practices.Instead of wasting time typing nonsense behind closed doors, Id strongly recommend that you take a step back and reevaluate the way youre doing business. Maybe, consider that you were very rude and that a sincere apology would be in order. Perhaps, it would even do you some good to do more than just be on the computer stalking other peoples profiles. Try greeting potential clients, for a change, and being nicer to them, . That might mitigate some of the challenges that are yielding that stressed-related lack of good manners. Do better. You can!

I am truly pleased to write this review. I cannot express enough how impressed and happy i have been with the overall experience working with Kelli. Both the service and the quality of the finished product have been truly excellent throughout the process.Having been a longtime lurker of the bespoke suit world, I was excited when a family wedding provided the perfect excuse to finally take the leap. Without exaggeration, I contacted about 20 different companies in my search. This is not unusual as I tend to be very thorough however an additional factor was that I allowed the busyness to distract me and my schedule got away from me leading up to the date and when I finally realized it, I was left with almost no time to realistically have a suit made by my deadline. My conversations with the multitude of people I spoke to in my quest only confirmed my fear and I was about to resign myself to the fact that I would simply have to settle for off-the-rack + tailoring and bespoke would have to remain a someday dream.Of course, there is nothing wrong with OTR, and the truth is that the average observer would be hard pressed to tell the difference. And yet, if you are interested enough in bespoke to have read this far, I likely do not have to explain the a nostalgic desire and charm; the idea of a one of a kind suit, designed by you and made exactly for your body. And just when the disappointment was creeping up, Kelli answered the phone. Not only was she receptive and welcoming of my inquiry, she was also very reassuring of the fact that she could accommodate me. In fact, she was the only person out of so many that I spoke to who seemed eager to accept the job and was confident that she could meet my deadline. We immediately scheduled an initial consultation and I had to contain myself so as not to get my hopes up as my conversations with the other services left me skeptical.Kelli did not disappoint. Upon our initial meeting, she encouraged me to explore the many fabric options I would be choosing from while she gave me a brief yet thorough overview and clear expectations of the entire process. She took a real personal interest and was very patient and informative along the way, helping to guide my selections based on my own personal taste while also considering how I intended to make use of the suit beyond the initial event.I came away from that initial meeting completely free of the concern I had going in, feeling completely optimistic and assured that I was in good hands with Kelli. As promised my suit arrived yesterday and I came in today for a final fitting. The suit was even more striking than I expected and we quickly went over a few minor tweaks to get the fit just right. The wedding is this Saturday and I could not be more excited at this point.I am so grateful and consider myself ridiculously fortunate to have found Kelli and Hall Madden exactly when I did.As a final aside and as hard as it may be to believe, there is actually a cherry on top of this story. Again, having spoken to so many competing companies in my search, the pricing for their service is ultra competitive and I honestly do not remember a single other service that was in the same ballpark for an eqivalent level of true bespoke(there are levels to this). Add that to the service Kelli provides and I can say with total confidence that they are the greatest value in the bespoke suit world in the greater LA area.Do yourself a favor and check them out. You wont be disappointed.

I really wanted to like this place. Hamlet is super friendly and the prices are great. Unfortunately, I've had three garments come back damaged now. On one shirt they applied too much heat to one of the plackets so it shrunk and the buttons no longer aligned. They were able to reheat the packet and stretch it back out for me, so I decided to give them another chance. However, on my most recent drop off, a pair of comme des garçons trousers came back with a permanent crease it did not have before and I did not ask for and it was set in the cupro lining at such a high heat and pressure that it won't come out. In addition, a Lemaire shirt came back with warped fabric that won't go back to normal. The care tag says cool iron and the shirt was clearly pressed at what I'm assuming must have been high heat. These items were not cheap. To have them handled with such little care is really frustrating.
