Paragon Dry Cleaners & Alterations
1310 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States
I had pants altered, returned them due to incorrect fit, waited 8 days, and nothing was done. The seamstress verbally confronted me rudely stating that her work was perfect, and that it was my issue to deal with as her work was totally correct. Here is the full context. I had a pair of pants hemmed by the seamstress, they fit too short at the leg, so I returned them 8 days ago for fixing, and nearly 2 weeks later the pants had not even been touched. After I checked in with the nice gentlemen at the front, she interrupts verbally from the back area, and confronts me head on asserting that her work was perfectly measured, that she will not adjust my pants without charging me again an additional $25 (cost of hemming), and that I can frankly take it or leave it.I gathered my unfinished items and left very disappointed. I really miss the middle eastern seamstress who was such a sweetheart, and never made anyone feel like this. I really liked this place, and sad that I need to take my business elsewhere as I live only one block away. Before leaving I explained to her that I am not challenging her work quality, but rather was asking if she could simply help me let them out a bit. This is an example of where convenience does not always equal worthwhile.I am not sure if the owner of Paragon reads these reviews, but if he or she does, I apologize that I need to take my business elsewhere. This is certainly not a reflection of the whole staff, as I have previously always had an exceptional experience here. Thanks for all the help in the past.

Im not here to tell you that you shouldnt use this business. Thats your decision, regardless of our review. Were here to tell you what to expect: outrageous prices, rudeness (if you dare to ask pertinent questions), and of course, extremely lengthy delivery times. Knowing the people behind the counter, from what we heard, first hand, and how we were treated, we know any apology would be an empty one to just (try to) look good online. In essence, we wanted to dry-clean my (simple) wedding dress, and a couple of other items. Said dress would take a month or longer and almost $200. Another little summer dress that I bought in the neighborhood (again, to try to help a small business) would cost me more to dry clean ($16) at this place, than what I paid for it. I was afraid to ask for the cost of the rest of the items. When my husband and I (both neighbors, both professionals, both invested in the community) said No, thank you, thats OK to those prices, someone yelled from inside a room, you can go to another CHEAP place. Then I replied, You mean more cost-effective? Then the same guy yelled back, Its called CHEAP. So we left, and of course, well never be back there. When did some small businesses start being so entitled and obnoxious? While we dont have to dry clean all the time, and some might consider this a luxury, treating neighbors with disrespect is never the way to gain business or recommendations. Please do better with your personal attitude, customer service, and of course, your offering. After seeing your reply:As expected, the let me try to look good online pre-fabricated answer… Another issue with small businesses trying to ignore genuine concerns.Id have to agree with you regarding your mother. She simply tried to tell us the prices. We, too, reserve the right to refuse a service that wont meet our expectations. You shouldnt be upset or rude because of that. It denotes a certain level of immaturity.Your mothers business deserves better. Youre creating issues for her with your attitude and the seriously troubling answers online; accusing people with outrageous lies, and worse, implying that you have more rights than others, because of when they moved to the neighborhood or when they became citizens of this country. Extremely disrespectful, borderline insulting, and racist (it doesnt matter who I am or where I came from). Youre doing your mothers business (not yours) a big disservice. Frankly, your reply is worthy of a closer examination of your business practices.Instead of wasting time typing nonsense behind closed doors, Id strongly recommend that you take a step back and reevaluate the way youre doing business. Maybe, consider that you were very rude and that a sincere apology would be in order. Perhaps, it would even do you some good to do more than just be on the computer stalking other peoples profiles. Try greeting potential clients, for a change, and being nicer to them, . That might mitigate some of the challenges that are yielding that stressed-related lack of good manners. Do better. You can!

I went for the first time- got a silk dress, a $600 wool sweater, and a $700 wool jacket cleaned. First of all the sweater and jacket came back still w stains and smelling bad- they redid it for free but they completely shrunk both items. They literally are 1-2 sizes too small and I have to sell them now. These are designer pieces. Ruined. the people there are very nice but obviously I won't go back because they ruined my very expensive clothes. I didn't even bother complaining to them because what's done is done. The silk dress was ok, so maybe just don't give them anything wool. in a perfect world they owe me about $1,000 for this but obviously that's not happening.
Denim Doctors (Denim Repairs)
1495 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026, United States
Let me start by saying I am a very easy to please customer. I really, really want to recommend Denim Doctors, and I still would, because the work is very specialised and Zip and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about denim - but I cannot recommend them that enthusiastically. The work undertaken is solid. But. I paid $250 to have a pair of very important to me jeans repaired and hemmed and the time taken to complete the work was one whole month, when I was quoted roughly five days. Ordinarily I wouldnt care about the wait - genuinely - but it took three visits to the store to actually get the jeans in the repaired state that was initially discussed when I dropped them off.I was told via text message theyd be ready by date X, so I turn up. But theyre not ready. I return a week or so later. The jeans arent even on the premises. I come back a week or so later again after some back and forth over whether or not I wanted them shipped from DTLA to Pasadena which in Zips defense, he offered to pay for, (but I decided I didnt want them shipped - in case they got lost), so I go for a third time to pick them up. But guess what. The repairs still arent finished. So I had to wait for another repair to be completed before I could leave with the jeans.Furthermore, the cotton thread used in different places on the jeans are different colours - which is not noticeable from a distance - but it certainly is close up. This is not intentional - it was not done for colour matching. Its simply a mistake. Now, onto the positive. The darning is good and for the most part, the stitched repairs are solid.Unfortunately, due to the sloppy nature of this transaction, the whole thing has left me feeling kind of deflated about the jeans and I havent even worn them since I picked them up - something I was really looking forward to doing.Would I personally use Denim Doctors again? Honestly, probably not.

-1 star ….don't go here the man is a wreck!1. Place us hard to find behind a big iron gate and in shared space with other businesses.2. Dropped off daughters dress, she tried on he pinned it gave me ticket and would take 5 days.3. Called and asked if dress ready he said yes.4. Got there he started saying the dress was twice as much so instead if $12 it's $25, the dress he shows me is NOT our dress! He looks but he can't find my dress. I had my paper ticket he said that it was my writing (?)5. I start going through the two small racks and find my daughters dress. It's not fixed.6. I take the dress and tell him he's terrible and I will never come back. Crazy chaotic6. I went to Charo in San Marino ahhhhh she's great!

Went for dry cleaning & also needed alterations. The NICEST people ever. Very clean, and prices are beyond FAIR. I wish I'd have known about them years ago. What a wonderful establishment. UPDATE: been using this service for a couple of months now. I usually spend $100+ bi-weekly. I've noticed the MED starch I request on “everything” has the feel of regular items non starched. I've noticed NO CREASE in shirt arms. Then another customer shirt hanging without ANY starch had such a CRiSP look. I also noticed I was charged almost five dollars for a lightweight COTTON long sleeve and it was counted as a sweater, then my other cotton long sleeve was counted as a shirt at $2.50. If a company wants to price gouge after you've been supporting their business, I will have to seek alternatives. So sad!

Took my dress to be altered, needed it done pretty urgently and he obliged. He has sewn 6 dresses previously, 2 for a girl, 2 for a teenager and 2 for an adult and he did it in one month despite being super busy. I respect the work they are doing there to keep African fashion alive in the diaspora.

Edit: These nice and wonferful people here stayed true to their words. I went again for the second time, and was able to get my dry cleaning completed in a timely manner, with great quality. They did my suit for free as well this time. I will keep coming back every week! Their hospitality and accomodation for me was wonderful. They even recognized that it was my suit that got delayed. I appreciate the care and attention you all!-------------The people here are pretty nice and helpful. But they made a mistake in processing my order that delayed the dry cleaning, and unfortunately, affected me and the stores reliability.I brought my suit in for dry cleaning on a Friday and specifically asked for the suit to be done the next day, since I need the suit for work on Monday (their Sunday is closed). I only have one suit. I was assured by the employee processing my suit that it would be ready by Saturday. When I came back at closing on Saturday, I was told that it was not ready, that it would be ready by 12pm on Monday, and to call back on Monday at 6am if I wanted it earlier. There was a messup by the employee processing my order that caused this delay.I believe that it was a genuine mistake, but it unfortunately affected me, because I need my suit for work. I am frustrated that I will have to buy a new suit just to go to work on Monday, and spend unnecessary money when I really cant afford much.I still believe in second chances and all the other reviews here, so I will try them again next week, and update this review to 5 stars if they can get my suit done by the time we mutually agreed on, with good quality.
Door To Door Valet Cleaners & Tailors

We have been loyal customers of the Montana Avenue location in Santa Monica since it opened -- weve spent over $10,000 with this business. We had no problems, and then, we picked up on order and they had ruined three womens suits. There is problem with dry cleaning called fuzzy spandex. In some garments, if the garment is spun to quickly, or, left in the cleaning solvent too long, it will break down the inner layer of a garment, and the inner layer will then extrude through the garment. We actioned with management, and they promised they would send the garments to a lab for testing, and share the results back. Well, following up with them regularly through phone calls, texts, and actioning with the associates at the store we could get no action or response. Finally, writing an on-line review we garnered this response from the owner -- basically blaming us. We have taken our business elsewhere, and, wanted to let other customers know to AVOID this business -- its all just a fancy store-front with poor results and no customer service:I have never heard from you about your issues described above and it has also never been brought to the attention of my staff. As far as price, we provide the same if not BETTER quality than Browns Cleaners across from us, have you taken anything in to them to have cleaned ? their prices are at least 2-3 times what we charge, over and above their absurd pricing, they still use Perc in their cleaning process.I have done the best with your suits, we have trimmed as much of the elastic fiber that is poking thru the lining and this is the best we can do.The most I can do at this point out of courtesy is :I will write you a letter explaining how the items were cleaned & finished at our facility and you can deal with the retailer you bought the suits at. I can also get you the information of the fabric analysis lab and you can get the garments analyzed at your expense. This is the extent to which I am willing to extend myself.Thank You,Sajid Veera

Greg and Francisco are so nice, but thats where the pleasant experience ended. I only got things tailored-- cant speak for their drycleaning services-- but I wouldnt go back. I brought in a skirt that only needed the waist taken in, and the entire skirt was taken in so its now unwearable. That cost me $48. I also brought in a dress that admittedly was a difficult material. I needed sleeves shortened, and waist/bust taken in. Sleeves were shortened, but are puckered and uneven, and bust/waist werent taken in nearly enough. This cost $60!!My partner also brought in some items for repair. One was a pair of pants to be patched-- they came back with a new hole in them.Their tailor is off-site, so maybe thats how these kinds of things happen, but Im beyond disappointed and will not be giving them any more of my money to ruin my clothes
