Comment: I had two leather jackets worked on by Denim Doctors, and I could not be happier!I needed one jacket altered, and they were able to alter the sleeves at the shoulders to save all the detailing around the cuff. The jacket now fits great and I am very happy with it.My second jacket was a black one that had a strange chemical/acid stain down the length of the back that I was not able to get fixed anywhere else, but Denim Doctors saved the day...and my jacket.During the entire process, they were extremely responsive, and I would highly recommend Denim Doctors to anyone.

Comment: My favorite jeans ripped right across the back as I was wearing them (a nightmare)— and they also were developing holes near the fly and the denim was thinning. Denim Doctors did an amazing job. Not only did they finish the repair much faster than originally anticipated, but the darning is flawless and will surely extend the life of these pants. Denim Doctors were super professional and efficient. I’m so happy with their work & will definitely use their services again in the future. Thank you!

Comment: I was looking to do extensive repairs on my fathers vintage leather jacket, and after some hefty research via the web, found Denim Doctors. I spoke with Zip at length about the work I wanted done and he even offered great recommendations in the garment district downtown for the perfect jacket liner replacement.Denim Doctors is an experience and I would highly suggest taking a stroll around with Zip to fully take in all its wonders. Along with an impressive repair shop, theres a well curated retail space stocked with beautiful custom pieces.They wasted no time and the repairs were done quickly. Im beyond thrilled with the finished product and their attention to detail. It feels like a custom piece, while still holding all the integrity of my fathers well worn jacket.I was nervous putting a precious possession in the hands of strangers, but Zip and his team clearly understood its sentimental value.Denim Doctors is known for their expert work in denim, but should also be known for their masterful leather works. Comment: Heard about this place while calling around wondering where I could get some old Levis repaired. Turns out its the best, most comprehensive purveyor of vintage denim Ive ever been to in L.A. Digging through the extensive collection, Zip found me two pairs of 501s that actually fit — a rare thing indeed for a slim, petite gentleman such as myself. Thank you, Zip!

Comment: My go to denim repair/tailor. They are located in Los Angeles but do ship nationwide if you ship your garments in with measurements and tailor instructions. Their service is on the pricier side compared to your neighborhood tailor shops, but with that comes outstanding craftsmanship. I’ve had half a dozen pairs tailored or remodeled by them, and my jeans always come back with perfect fit and no signs of tailoring. This is the place to go to alter your most prized and favorite pieces.

Comment: They did a really great job repairing my Diesel jeans that I had worn a hole in. You cant even see where they did their work, it blends right in. The amount of work they did for such a small repair is astonishing, but I wont have problems in that area again. The repair was $95, so this definitely isnt for cheap jeans, but if you have a classic pair that you love, Zip and his crew can fix them for you.Update: So I wear these jeans a lot. I’m tough on them and so they got another thin area and hole in the knee. I went ahead and had the knee repaired and the other knee reinforced. Once again, the jeans look like new and I’m looking forward to wearing them for more years.

Comment: Let me start by saying I am a very easy to please customer. I really, really want to recommend Denim Doctors, and I still would, because the work is very specialised and Zip and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about denim - but I cannot recommend them that enthusiastically.The work undertaken is solid. But. I paid $250 to have a pair of very important to me jeans repaired and hemmed and the time taken to complete the work was one whole month, when I was quoted roughly five days. Ordinarily I wouldnt care about the wait - genuinely - but it took three visits to the store to actually get the jeans in the repaired state that was initially discussed when I dropped them off.I was told via text message theyd be ready by date X, so I turn up. But theyre not ready. I return a week or so later. The jeans arent even on the premises. I come back a week or so later again after some back and forth over whether or not I wanted them shipped from DTLA to Pasadena which in Zips defense, he offered to pay for, (but I decided I didnt want them shipped - in case they got lost), so I go for a third time to pick them up. But guess what. The repairs still arent finished. So I had to wait for another repair to be completed before I could leave with the jeans.Furthermore, the cotton thread used in different places on the jeans are different colours - which is not noticeable from a distance - but it certainly is close up. This is not intentional - it was not done for colour matching. Its simply a mistake.Now, onto the positive. The darning is good and for the most part, the stitched repairs are solid.Unfortunately, due to the sloppy nature of this transaction, the whole thing has left me feeling kind of deflated about the jeans and I havent even worn them since I picked them up - something I was really looking forward to doing.Would I personally use Denim Doctors again? Honestly, probably not.

Comment: At Denim Doctors, Zip and his team run the best denim alterations-and-repair in Los Angeles.Just praising the tailoring wouldnt do Denim Doctors justice - this space also hosts what may be one of the best vintage Americana shops on the West Coast. Their stock is far more than just jeans: their selection of classic band tees, Western wear, and leather jackets is both extensive and well-curated.Prices for both tailoring and purchases are more than fair, especially considering the quality of work. Amazed at the re-distressing they applied to the hem of my a pair of vintage MiUSA Levis 501s when shortening the length, their work is almost indistinguishable from the original patterning.Tl;dr - the best denim alterations and vintage Americana in Los Angeles.5/5 Stars

Comment: Zips shop of vintage denim is topnotch quality. I would highly recommend shopping at this store before hitting up RRL on Melrose. He also was able to repair my favorite 1940s denim flight suit! If you have any need for denim repair or vintage denim clothing, this is the best place in Los Angeles, hands down.

Height isn’t my greatest attribute and my jeans aren’t considered investment pieces by any means but Zip listened and took me out of my slouchy length boot cut norm I created for myself. Comment: Horrible. They said it would be done in about a week, it took almost a month and they weren’t responsive when I followed up. When they finally got back to me I came and picked up my jeans and they did not do what I asked for, completely wrong. Don’t waste your time with them.UPDATE: Today, 8 months after the incident, the owner has contacted me claiming that they have no recollection of any customer experience fitting (my) account, nor can we verify anything about (my) identity from (my) name Tyler Burten in our records. Could it be that youre spelling my last name wrong? That you dont have an adequate record keeping system in place? Or both? Based on your negligence in the way you ruined my $200 jeans, I would say its both. This 8 month late response also feels like an accusation of fabrication on my part, so Ill provide further evidence of this incident by including a screenshot of my Yelp review in which your owner responded to me, acknowledging and owning up to the ball dropping. Button up your business, guys.

Comment: Customer service wasnt bad, although they didnt call when my pants were completed. 4 week waitlist for a hem seems a bit long, but it was shorter than the 6 week quote. Chain stitch hem job was good, but for $45 is very steep, and couldnt find prices online. Overall 3.5 stars
