Tinas Alterations

My husband needed alterations to a suit he wanted to wear for our daughter's wedding and Tina did an amazing job making it fit him just right. She let out each of 5 seams in the jacket for a bit of extra room around the middle, let out the waistband in the trousers to add 2 full inches there, took in all four seams along the legs of the trousers to update the style, and hemmed the trousers to the correct length. She also removed every trace of lint and steam pressed the jacket, pants and even the dress shirt we brought along for the fitting. She did all of this for a very reasonable price and completed the job with expert precision in just one day. She is truly a professional with a thorough understanding of her craft and an appreciation for customer service and satisfaction. She's a pleasure to work with and we couldn't be happier with the result. Without question a job very well done. Thank you Tina!

.[Note: I posted this in October 2011 to Yelp and am re-posting here.]Its really hard to choose a good dentist. If youre not a dentist yourself, how do you know whether the person working on your teeth is actually good at his or her job? How do you know that your dentist, who may be suggesting that you get an expensive and potentially painful procedure, has your best interest at heart, rather than his or her own financial interest?I am going to share with you why I trust and highly recommend Dr. Fong and his office.I have known Dr. Fong since 1999, when he and his hygienist wife Diane hired me for the summer to work in their front office. I was in between high school and college at the time. That summer, I observed firsthand the care, thoughtfulness, and diligence that Dr. Fong and Diane put into their practice. Not only were they great employers who treated their staff well, they also always put in extra effort to ensure their patients received the utmost quality of care.Dr. Fong and Diane often worked long hours, working with patients during the day, and managing their office in the evening. Yet they would always make time to squeeze patients with urgent needs in, even if that meant they had to work through lunch or stay even later. In 1999, computers in medical and dental offices were not the common sight that they are today, but even back then, Dr. Fong had invested in networked computers set up in all of his operating rooms, complete with speech recognition software, so that his hygienists could record and track each patients gum recession history over time.As long as I have known him, Dr. Fong has consistently invested in improving himself and his office for the benefit of his patients. He understands that the key to his success is to put his patients first. As he often says, ensure that patients are well taken care of, and everything else will follow.I have been a patient and a friend of Dr. Fong and Diane for well over ten years now. In that time, I have learned how to distinguish great dentists from mediocre ones.As in so many other professions, great dentists are passionate about their work and passionate about their patients. They push themselves to improve and go the extra mile because they care.I can tell you from personal experience, both as a longtime patient and a former employee, that Dr. Fong is such a dentist.
Purple Finch bridal designer & tailor
744 Alabama St, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States
I was dissatisfied with the service I received from Olga. I had a bridesmaids dress that was too small and could not zip up. I was in a time crunch as the wedding date was approaching. I contacted several tailors in the area to fix the issue. Olga responded the same day saying that she could likely fix it, and we promptly scheduled a first meeting. She was also gracious when I had to change the first appointment time. When I arrived to the first appointment, she suggested doing a corset back with the dress, i.e., removing the zipper and replacing it with loops sewn into the back of the dress and a string to tie it up. She said she could use fabric from the bottom of the dress to do this. She convinced me this was the best solution because I could tighten and loosen to my liking. I agreed on the plan and we agreed to come back in one week after the job was done. She said she could finish the task in the agreed upon timeframe. She stated the price would be $120 to do the corset back, and an additional $80 to take a few inches off from the bottom to account for whatever heels I would wear. I thought this was strange, because if she was already going to take fabric from the bottom to do the looping, why do I have to pay an extra $80 to make the dress shorter at the bottom for heels? I asked her and she agreed to forgo the additional $80 and to just do the job for $120.Two days before our appointment, she texted me at night asking to reschedule as she now had other orders and was expecting some delays. Unfortunately, I was flying out of town and could not possibly reschedule. She said okay and we kept our original appointment time. When I arrived to the appointment, she surprised me by letting me know there was actually not enough fabric on the bottom to complete the corset back, so she instead used a cream sheer ribbon to tie the dress together. The ribbon visibly contrasted with the dark burgundy of the dress. This was a shock to me as she had my dress for a week and at no point expressed any issues with the fabric or executing the job. I was frustrated that she had not communicated this issue with me sooner, and instead tried to give me this random solution. I told her during the appointment that this was not what I was expecting and that the string had to be the same color as the dress. She told me to simply go to a fabric store and buy a matching burgundy ribbon for $5. This was unprofessional to ask of a paying customer.I told her I needed her to get the fabric herself and finish the lacing. She agreed and said I could come back in a couple hours. I paid her an additional $5 to cover the cost of the ribbon. When I came back, she hurriedly handed me the dress outside. I said Id like to come up and do a final fitting again, but she repeatedly told me she did not have time. She got visibly annoyed at my asking, and simply showed me the new ribbon was now the correct same color of the dress. I thought this was unfair, as I am a busy lawyer and I took time out of my schedule to meet with her a third time after this unexpected issue. My time is valuable too, and if I pay for a service, I expect to have the job well done, have ample communication should any issues arise, and to do a final fitting with the absolute final product. I did not get that from Olga.I took the dress outside and told her, for the future, she should be more communicative with her customers. I think she means well, but clearly she has time management issues and sometimes bites off more than she can chew. She should not agree to do rush orders if she cannot fully execute. I also think if I did not question or challenge any of the peculiarities that arose during our meetings, she would have charged me $80 more dollars than the job was worth and let me leave with a cream string that did not at all match the dress. This experience fractured my trust in her business. I am glad she fixed the issue, but I will not be returning.
Healthwell Physical Therapy Group
1200 Gough St, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States
I have finally found a PT clinic that goes way beyond the usual physical therapy offerings. I have been a dedicated yoga student over the last 10 years and a yoga teacher for 4 years. Before that, I was an avid distance runner, swimmer and gym enthusiast. After several bouts of physical therapy, both pre and post surgery, due to sports related injuries, I decided to begin yoga to hopefully prevent any additional injuries and to provide relief to the ones I already had. There are many yoga systems, with many health enhancement claims in the various yoga communities, and for many yoga practitioners that may prove to be true. However, for me, I found yoga was no safe haven from sports injuries. It took me years to finally admit and accept that I needed some help outside my yoga world. I again tried several PT clinics and received no new ideas about how to approach my damaged/deteriorating joint issues. After receiving referrals from orthopedic surgeons and sports physicians to pretty basic PT clinics, I finally found Mindys practice by referral from my OBGYN! This is a completely different practice. Mindy has an extensive background in PT, however, she continues to learn and practice other treatment modalities such as Feldenkrais, cranial sacral therapy, osteopathy, etc. and her intuitive healing skills are off the charts. She is the most organized PT I have ever seen, and she remembers every detail of every session we have had. Between sessions she is thinking up creative ways to treat for the next session. I really do not think she takes a break from this work that she obviously loves. I could go on, but the main message is that no other treatment or yoga practice has given me the encouragement that I can maintain what health remains in my joints, and live without pain and without surgery for many more years. I had almost given up, and I am too young for hip replacement surgery! One more thing...the education I am receiving about the interrelationships between injury sites and where the pain manifests is just mind-blowing. Who knew that scar tissue under the arm would distort the way a hip socket functioned?
Norcal Flow Expeditions Mountain bike Tours San...
1825 Polk St, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States
Last year my boyfriend and I were out visiting San Francisco area and really wanted to see the breathtaking views of the pacific as well as Muir Woods. After doing some research we came across NorCal Flow and decided to call to find out more. Marcel answered the phone right away and talked us through everything from who we are, are experience level and what we were looking for. By the end of the call we were super stoked and comfortable with the experience Marcel was going to put together for us.Fast forward a few weeks and Marcel was picking us up from our hotel on time and he had EVERYTHING! From the bikes, to water, to fuel and snacks for the ride, everything to get the bikes fitted to our liking, water bottles you name it! He clearly has done this a time or two. He even brought along a tow rope, which I was totally thankful for!The experience far exceeded our expectations! The trails he took us on were incredible an the views were a total added bonus! After 24 miles and about 4000ft of climbing (don't be alarmed we asked for it specifically as we were very experienced riders) we had the BIGGEST smiles on our faces!!!Marcel made the entire experience from the first phone call to the last good bye the best experience we have ever had. He was extremely friendly, laid back and tailored EVERYTHING to what we needed and wanted. He was all for stopping to take pictures and finding the perfect shot for us too. Truly a delight.Needless to say, my boyfriend and I just finished up booking another trip out to San Francisco and booked Marcel and NorCal Flow for another amazing tour experience! Highly recommend giving them a call!
A2B Movers San Francisco
574 Natoma St APT 202, San Francisco, CA 94103, United States
TLDR; The work was fast, done right, and freed up more of my time to take care of my infant. In hindsight, I should have hired them sooner. Id rented several pickup trucks, vans, box trucks, and a storage unit before reaching out. The move out was short notice, so my packing and storing suffered. But that didnt seem to bother these guys. They brought all the gear needed to safely and securely transport all of my 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom household things.I had them meet me at my storage unit. After giving them the code and unlocking the unit, they went to work. I was able to drive another box truck of items to the destination and get started. Theres a certain peace of mind knowing that competent workers are handling the largest and most difficult of the work behind the scenes while you multitask elsewhere. When I first noticed the inside of their packed 26 truck, it was impressive. Everything was strapped down, shrink wrapped, padded, and partitioned. I glanced at my 10 truck pack job and it was slightly better than a molehill. That alone was already adding value for the price. I wanted to contribute, so I handled the small truck concurrently. They were strong, quick, and had clever tricks to managing awkward and heavy things that I hadnt considered (Im looking at you, upside-down-table-trick...).My residence has many doors and long hallways, which added to the tediousness of the work, but Akti and Nuris chugged along unceasingly. They were careful to ask where each of the main furniture pieces needed to go. I also appreciated that they were able to make autonomous decisions with respect to the home layout. For example, they justified some of the boxes going to the outside deck due to the dirtiness/dustiness of the boxes and they questioned the placement of a mattress and box spring after noticing where the rug for the infants crib was placed. These are things I wouldnt have considered and would have caused me more work in the short term.A decent review should have at least something to criticize constructively, so Ill keep it brief. I had returned from a trip to the smaller truck and noticed that one of the movers was in the bathroom. Its not that I minded this, just that there was no soap or towels in there, so he would have either not washed his hands or insufficiently washed them. Had he asked, I would have happily provided the supplies needed. A final criticism would be that the use of their wardrobe boxes is temporary unless you pay something like $25 per box (and they used 6 for the job). So we had to unload the 6 boxes and return the boxes, which added time and energy to the job. A heads-up that the box usage is temporary unless paid for would be preferred.Overall, Akti and Nuris were professional, quick, accurate, considerate, and saved me an entire summer of something they accomplished in 4 hours. I didnt have to miss my infants first time crawling and laughing his way down the long corridors because the burden of time and effort was on their shoulders. I will certainly do business with them again.
Karen M. Horton, MD
2100 Webster St UNIT 520, San Francisco, CA 94115, United States
Dr Horton is one of the kindest, talented, beautiful surgeons I have ever met in my entire life . I discovered her in 2019 with the intention of correcting my inverted nipples, I was only 19 at the time . Having this body function visually you know how insecure you are as a women and everyday showering changing and seeing them and how embarrassing it is to have them I thought there would never be a solution until I found her . I discovered after watching many procedures in India and doctors all around the world she was in the same city as me. I booked a consultation and when approaching the office being greeted by the two ladies at the front desk the pink chairs the offering of tea and water I knew I was at the right place. Dr Horton brought me to the back and took a look and what I thought was my life's worst nightmare. she kindly calmed me in a way I've never experienced . She assured me that she was able to resolve it in a way that it would satisfy me . Since that day I've stopped crying and experiencing the horrible anxiety I was facing . My surgery was in October 11 2023 and I was very nervous . Her team is phenomenal there are no words to describe how well and comforting this women is . The pink robes, my bed was heated, I felt like a women for the first time in my life . The surgery itself was not nearly as painful as I expected and the aftercare was very minimal compared to what I thought it would be . Dr Horton and the team was very attentive making sure to always ask me of my needs before during and at every follow up appointment. She is better than every doctor than every surgeon and every medical provider that I have encountered . She allowed me to be annoying and particular gave me a direct contact to voice my issues and concerns and NEVER ONCE TOLD ME NO. Never once shut down my desires like the doctors I've previously visited some even being stationed at Kaiser. Even my doctors at Kaiser never told me there was a surgery to solve this. Following up after was very smooth I would come in be kindly greeted drink tea get food at the cafe the staff of the whole building now know me and I greet them when I enter I feel included in the process . This experience changed my life forever and I cannot thank her or her team enough for everything they have done for me. I feel more at home here than my actual house because they are accommodating and very responsive. 5/5 and I would come here in the future for other procedures because of how smooth this process was . Dr Horton is a very talented surgeons who deserve accolades in the work produced
Cabrillo Plumbing, Heating & Air
78 Dorman Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, United States
I just found my plumber!Found a great deal on Angie's List and decided to give them a try. The only things I really had a problem with was a couple of slow drains.Bob Torre was my service technician and not only did a wonderful job, but went above and beyond what I have come to expect from a competent plumber.First, he respected my property. He put on some protective booties so that he wouldn't dirty my carpet. Then, he made sure that the items on my counter top were out of the way of any splash. After the job was done, he even cleaned up the splatter on my counter and mirror.Second, he explained everything he was doing and very carefully went over the paperwork and told me what everything meant on the paperwork before he allowed me to sign or initial. He explained California liability and workman's comp requirements for all service companies and told me how to protect myself and my home when I allow someone into my home. When everything was clear, he showed me one of the main reasons why my master bath drain was running slowly and how I could avoid a premature service call by simply replacing a part (that they did not carry) or, at least, being aware of the position of the part and manually adjusting it.Finally, he showed me how where the shutoff valve was for my water heater and even tested the pressure coming into my home to make sure it was at a safe level.Bob was very personable and demonstrated how excellent service can be. When I complimented him on his service and attitude, he indicated that all Cabrillo technicians have been trained that way. What that tells me is that the ownership and management of Cabrillo are smart in who they hire and who they choose to serve as their front line. Advertising can get 1st time business but it takes someone like Bob to keep them coming back.I will ask for him the next time I have a plumbing challenge.
Perfect Dry Cleaning & Alterations
4966 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94112, United States
They get 1-Star for trying again. My wife recently went here to get her wedding dress cleaned, and quoted $80, which seems like a good dea if you're only looking for the job to be half done. Even worse, it appeared that the dress came back worse than when we dropped it off. They tried to pass it off as saying that the dress came to them like that. We had a good time at our wedding, but not to the point where we were running through dirty black water. (see pictures). We asked for them to try again, and they “tried”. Yeah no change. I suspect that they didn't even try again; probably left it on the hanger for a couple of weeks and called us back to put it up. It's at that point that we just decided to cut our loses and take it somewhere else — my house. I was able to wash out some of the marks with dish soap! (See Pictures). We'll just end up taking it to be completed at Ocean Dry Cleaners on Ocean. It's just on the other side of the BART. Honestly, it's not worth coming here. You should compare the reviews on Yelp between these two places. You'll see a world of difference.
