Comment: WoW, probably one of best experiences I’ve had in a dentist office, and Dr.Fong came highly regarded by one of my co-workers, and now I see why. I have serious anxiety towards dentist’s, and PTSD on top of that, and from start to finish, everything went super smooth, and I even got to relax in the patient area in one of the massage chairs (Added Bonus)…. Comment: Terrible experience. My wife had an implant a few years ago, but the dentist who did it messed up her crown, leaving her with an empty implant. After years of discomfort, we found Dr. Fong. At our first appointment, he said my wife needed multiple fillings and another tooth removed for a crown. We just wanted her existing implant crowned. He insisted all issues be fixed together. A month or two later, we called Dr. Fongs office again and we told them that my wife really needed a crown. They asked if wed like to fulfill Dr. Fongs recommendations along with the crown. We said that we would like to have the crown done first. The recommendations could be done afterward. Dr. Fong agreed, and we began the crown fitting process. When the crown arrived, it looked fine until polished. After being polished by Dr. Fong, it appeared filed down and lacked natural colorations. Something felt wrong. Dr. Fong didnt fully install it and told us to wait 2 weeks before returning for it to be tightened. After 2 weeks, he tightened it, but after we had left, we noticed that it didnt make contact with her lower teeth correctly, causing jaw pain. At a routine cleaning, they mentioned more issues, but she mentioned the contact issue and wanted the crown fixed first. They gave her an x-ray and confirmed that there was an issue. Dr. Fong scheduled an appointment for us to get the issue resolved. At the appointment, Dr. Fong suggested drilling her lower teeth and applying filling to raise the lower teeth, apply filling to the crown or lowering the crown, but only if we signed a liability form, which we refused. We sought a second opinion, and the other dentist found no issues with her teeth but identified problems with the crown. We complained to our insurance, and after an investigation, they demanded a refund of $691 for the crown procedure incident. Additionally, after the aforementioned routine cleaning, my wife experienced discomfort on a previously filled tooth that lasted 15 years without issues until then. Dr. Fong seems focused on extracting as much money as possible, pushing unnecessary procedures and disregarding patient concerns.

My wife always asks me what out conversation was about after every appointment because we always manage to wander into some zany topics. Fun stuff. The rest of the staff is top shelf: Andrea, Melissa, Mari... The dual massage chairs in the waiting area are a great reason to get there early. Im told. Going to the dentist can be stressful, even scary sometimes. Fongs shop keeps things loose, they keep things light. Andrea, the Queen Goddess Dental Tech, has the gentlest touch, the most soothing voice, and it is as if Enya manifests to provide a serenade as Andrea does her magic. It feels like that, but Enya doesnt manifest... in fact, there is no music.... because none is required. Literally, I have drifted off to sleep in her care, she is so assuasive and serene. Again, the entire staff is outstanding and runs like a well-oiled dental drill. If you like Japanese-style hot towels, youll fit right in. Tell them Tim sent you. So I can get the referral bonus.

Comment: Dr. Fong and his staff are very professional and courteous. I had X-rays and pictures and oral evaluation and cleaning during my visit. The equipment they use for X-rays and pictures use a computer to view instantly after the X-rays and pictures are taken. Dr Fong is very knowledgeable and communicates well. I received advice from the doctor and hygienist to maintain my oral health like the importance of the doing some brushing when you get home if you’re not able to brush after a meal because you’re out of your home for hours. Also proper use of my oral b electric toothbrush by the hygienist Diane was very helpful. I wasn’t using light pressure on the teeth and keeping the bristles on each tooth long enough.

And totally undercharged me, considering the great inconvenience and all the time he took to (accurately!) diagnose my issue.It is always a pleasure to have my teeth cleaned at the office -- the staff are professional and courteous, and Im always seen on time (never any wait). His rates are competitive with other dentists Ive been to, so I know Im never gonna have any nasty surprises there. Comment: The principal factor I use to test and rate my dentist is his or her administration of pain shots; i.e., if getting the shot is painful, I rate the dentist lower on my experience scale. (Over the years I have determined theres a correlation between a dentists shot skills and his overall dentistry abilities. With all my dentists my shot test has proved accurate.)Over the last 12 months I have had seven visits with Doctor Fong. (Yeah, I needed a lot of work. Get over it, I have.)Anyway, not once have I felt Dr. Fongs needle going in, nor experienced discomfort during the shot process. I herein declare Dr. Kenneth Fong San Francisco Countys Master of Shots.True to my shot test, Doctor Fong has proven to be the best dentist I could ever hope to find. (This is not surprising since dentistry runs in the family; Dr. Fongs father was a dentist, (I do not know if his father is retired or giving root canals to the Lord and his flock).Dr. Fong admirably runs a tight ship. All his staff and assistants are competent, professional, and caring to the patients.You can also rest assured that Dr. Fongs utilizes the latest technologies, techniques, and processes. His practice is streamlined to make your visit as brief as your procedure allows. In my book thats appreciated because I like to spend as little time as possible sitting in the electric chair (an unkind metaphor for sure, but nevertheless in my mind it is spot on accurate).Lastly, regarding money: as my father never said, everythings negotiable. Ask Dr. Fong for a plan of action on treatment you need. With that he will provide you a cost estimate. If you dont have dental insurance, ask the good doctor for a no-insurance discount.Many dentists provide lower price to uninsured patients. (You would be surprised at how many people for one reason or another dont have dental insurance.) In any event, I consider Dr. Fongs prices reasonable. E.g., on November 13, 2019, I had two major fillings done, appx. 2 hours in the chair. in. My out-the-door price was $650. While that may seem high to some, Im a firm believer in the meme with professional services you get what you pay for.

Comment: Ken has been our dentist for about 20 years (-- were now getting older, but no worries for you, hes younger than us!). He was recommended by a good friend when we first moved to SF, and it has been a great experience from the beginning. From routine cleanings (often by his wife Diane) to extensive bridge replacement and implant work (required to deal with 40 year old bridges that were failing), Dr. Fongs approach, level of technical skill, attention to every detail has been wonderful. FYI, the replacement work occurred only recently, when it was obvious that the earlier work could not be saved. He had kept the earlier permanent bridges and crowns going for much longer than the usual life expectancy. Dedicated to his craft, Dr. Fong uses the latest equipment and keeps current on new options, but is always focused first on the health and longevity of you and your teeth, not trying out new trends. Its a friendly, caring and personable office, with easy communications in person and online. Theyre not the most expensive, but not the least. Neither is it over-priced or cheap. For us trust, mental comfort, and high-level skill are worth the budgetary priority when it comes to teeth -- it feels good to know that, with all the other aches and pains that can pop up, we can depend on our teeth not being a source of any of that as we head into our serious senior years. Thanks Ken and Diane! Highly recommend.

How do you know that your dentist, who may be suggesting that you get an expensive and potentially painful procedure, has your best interest at heart, rather than his or her own financial interest?I am going to share with you why I trust and highly recommend Dr. Fong and his office.I have known Dr. Fong since 1999, when he and his hygienist wife Diane hired me for the summer to work in their front office. I was in between high school and college at the time.That summer, I observed firsthand the care, thoughtfulness, and diligence that Dr. Fong and Diane put into their practice. Not only were they great employers who treated their staff well, they also always put in extra effort to ensure their patients received the utmost quality of care.Dr. Fong and Diane often worked long hours, working with patients during the day, and managing their office in the evening. Yet they would always make time to squeeze patients with urgent needs in, even if that meant they had to work through lunch or stay even later.In 1999, computers in medical and dental offices were not the common sight that they are today, but even back then, Dr. Fong had invested in networked computers set up in all of his operating rooms, complete with speech recognition software, so that his hygienists could record and track each patients gum recession history over time.As long as I have known him, Dr. Fong has consistently invested in improving himself and his office for the benefit of his patients. Comment: I have been going to Dr. Fong and Diane for years now - they are the BEST. This comes from someone who stopped going to a dentist for over 20 years after extremely traumatic childhood experiences with dentists and orthodontists. The entire staff is amazing - friendly, knowledgeable and put you at ease. And they fixed all the problems created by my poor childhood oral hygiene professionals. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Fong, Diane and their team.

Comment: The office staff is very polite and helpful. I love the warm wash cloth and the end of the visit! Dr. Fong and his team are very informative and provide excellent care. They provided me with a detailed bill prior to having a procedure so that I knew exactly what my out-of-pocket cost would be.

Comment: The best dentist ever! I have been seeing Dr Fong for over 10 years and he is by far the best dentist I have ever had.I have entrusted him to my somewhat complicated dental care from routine cleaning to crowns and root canals. He is expert at both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. I also really appreciate that he makes the investment to have the latest machinery in his office from the waiting rooms to the x-ray machines.I just wish there were 6 stars - Dr Fong deserves it!

Comment: I show up early for my appointments to enjoy one of the message chairs in the waiting room. This office is smooth, punctual and professional. They are very thorough on the cleanings and examinations, too. One nice touch: they offer you a heated towel, kind of like flying business class but with more legroom. Theres bike parking downstairs in the garage.
