Magic Touch Cleaners and Alteration
1453 Kettner Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101, United States
I'm a firm believer that customers will talk about a business if the service is awesome or if it's horrible. Unfortunately, for Magic Touch Cleaners, and me as a customer, this is a review of the horrible kind. I've had several instances with them where clothes weren't cleaned and had to be redone, but this latest screw up is a major problem. I decided to share my specific experience with you so that you're aware of how Magic Touch Cleaners doesn't stand behind their work nor do they feel that customer satisfaction is important to their business…especially when they burn things.About three weeks ago I dropped off the hood for my wife's snowboarding jacket, which outlines the opening a thick SYNTHETIC FUR piece. The tag on the hood specifically reads “DRY CLEAN ONLY”. Four days later my wife picked it up, brought it home and was shocked to see the ENTIRE FUR PIECE WAS BURNED. THE WHOLE THING was burned at the edges and the fibers towards the middle were practically melted together. The thing was no longer fluffy as it should be but is now more like a big long thick cotton ball. Bottom line here is that it looks like THEY JUST THREW IT IN THE DRYER AT some point in the process and burned the freaken thing.Naturally, I took the hood back to the shop in Little Italy, Downtown to see WTH happened and how they were going to make this right. My hope at this point was to get some sort of reimbursement/compensation to cover fixing/replacing the fur piece on the hood and be done with this ordeal. I was given the run around for a couple of more days with phone tag and what not, as apparently the only person who could resolve this was the “manager”, by the name of “Nassi”, which I suspect was the owner, but who knows. Once we finally spoke and she got to see the hood she CLAIMED FEROCIOUSLY that they followed the instructions on the tag (despite the evidence of the ruined hood) and she wasn't sure what happened. Her way of making this right was to basically offer me some ridiculously low amount of money, that wouldn't cover anything, AND TAKE THE HOOD AS SHE NEEDED PROOF TO SOME ASSOCIATION for compensating/reimbursing a customer…..My reaction “WHAT?!?!?! NO!!! That doesn't work.!!” She said, “Unfortunately, that's all I can offer you and I tried to work with you but you don't accept.” And that was that….as of 3/16/17Naturally, I'm furious and so is my wife for her ruined jacket. So I decided to share my experience with you so that you're aware of how Magic Touch Cleaners doesn't stand behind their work nor do they feel that customer satisfaction is important to their business.

Dons Alterations (Call Only)
4122 Wightman St, San Diego, CA 92105, United States
I was interested in a mask with some custom alterations. I found Dons professional expertise, quality work and insight an answer to all my needs. So I have a friend that every so often entangle & dislodge his hearing aids while taking off his ear loop mask.Dons response was a loop less mask with a simple sliding knot tie off and a nose wire for a sure fit. Did I mention washable to boot??Its a quality mask construction designed for comfort, the use of materials for levels of filtration and extra pocket filter for extra protection.Don added in that he does full clothing alterations, fitting & repairs which is great since he is centrally located.Ive purchased a couple dozen masks of these for friends, family and myself.Don took on a very special project ... my 2 year old nephew that Im trying to get him to wear a mask. Don ask me to find a material print with my nephew's favorite characters to create a mask for him .. that did the trick!I hope this helps everyone interested in a local tailor and a personal able guy. Thanks Don.

Primo Alterations & Dry Cleaning
7433 Mission Gorge Rd, San Diego, CA 92120, United States
Primo Alterations has helped me greatly in feeling exceptionally dressed on a daily basis!I retired about 95% of my wardrobe last year after having lost fifty-five pounds. Growing into a more professional appearance, I decided to update my wardrobe. This adjustment went from typical San Diego boardshorts, jeans, and sweatshirts to suits, sweaters, and well-fitting high quality clothing. In the past six months and probably well over twenty visits to Primo Alterations, I have only experienced a 100% commitment to the highest quality of work, customer service, and a feeling of great satisfaction (while wearing the best fitting clothes possible).Muna has given me invaluable insight, recommendations when Ive asked, and very honest feedback. She has also shared with me most of what I know about pieces fitting on my unusually shaped (narrow shoulders, broad chest and back, slender waist, full seat, and shorter-than-average) body, as well as shown me how to accentuate my self-expression with well-fitting clothing. She has made many different types of alterations on dress shirts, dress slacks, raw denim jeans, coats, jackets, and a suit. As my J. Hilburn personal stylist, she also made me an exceptional custom shirt; it is quite possibly my favorite article of clothing Ive ever owned! I wear it as much as I can.I am able to very confidently dress now how I envisioned six months ago. After such a time-consuming and tedious journey of finding clothes that fit, Munas superior assistance has given me the feeling of being prepared for any occasion. I feel more self-respected and confident in how I present myself than I ever have.Muna, I look forward to continuing to introduce my family and friends to you, as to give them the invaluable opportunity to have their own personal, knowledgeable, and truly wonderful tailor. I am forever grateful to you Muna! Thank you, Abe, and Primo Alterations!!Very Respectfully,Bob Holiday

My husband wanted to surprise me with getting my dress cleaned and boxed after our wedding. I was so excited when he went straight after working all day to pick it up and bring it home to me. Upon opening the box I thought “that doesn't look like my dress” and once I opened it I realized...it is NOT my dress. They gave us someone else's wedding dress. I will be going in tomorrow in hopes that my wedding dress is still there and has been cleaned properly and stored. I hope there is not some crazy mix up where neither of us ever actually get our wedding dresses back. We shall see tomorrow. Until then 1 star.

North Coast Cleaners
8915 Towne Centre Dr # 120, San Diego, CA 92122, United States
They are seriously the best!! North Coast has been my go-to for dry cleaning & tailoring ever since I moved to UTC a year ago. Ive always experienced amazing service and results, plus the owners are super nice! Bruce is amazing at getting any stain out! I brought in a cashmere sweater that had a pretty big 10+ year old coffee stain just for a regular dry cleaning. Several years ago I paid an extra $60 at an upscale dry cleaners for stain removal, despite trying their best the stain wouldnt budge. I thought it was hopeless and resorted to just wearing it around the house. I bring it in to North Coast for a regular dry clean, and they literally made the sweater look brand new, I was so impressed! And they didnt charge extra, unlike other places. Im so grateful they exist and so excited to be able to wear my sweater out in public again!

Overall good experience with the wash and fold door-to-door laundry service, but could have been improved:The good:* The bags they provide for laundry are high quality* They tie up the folded laundry very nicely with ribbons, and it looks very professionally done and is easy to handle and put away* Customer service responds very quickly, within an hour or soThe bad:* I was overcharged, but customer service was quick to resolve when I sent a note* Website is somewhat clunky and difficult to navigate* Pick-up and drop-off times were often unclear (and I believe in my case were silently rescheduled). On other laundry services, the drop-off is automatically set for the next day, but the next day came and went. While waiting for my clothes to return, I realized they were waiting for me to schedule a drop-off.* Other services send verbose updates when picking up, dropping off, determining charges etc., I didnt hear much from them* You pay per-bag instead of per-pound, so 1.2 bags is charged as 2 bags and the price jumps from $45 to $90 (unless you can squeeze it all into one bag). Other services charge continuously per pound.* Although they bags they provide are high quality, they dont easily fit in laundry hampers, and its not obvious how to partition for different members of your household (we have 2 kids of similar size, so we have to spend time figuring out which article goes where)

Unfortunately, and sadly, after being a long time supporter of this Iraqi immigrant business I have had to change my opinion because of the absolute rudeness and unfriendliness of the younger family members who now staff the store. There are several other laundromats that are cheaper and more polite..... I will not return to this place and I recommend you dont either. There are negative reviews on Yelp and Google which accurately describe the arrogance, rudeness and disrespect of the staff of this business towards our customers which are the lifeblood of any business.Today I came and spent $40 .....$20 on overpriced laundry (5.50 washers?) and $20 for a sandwich (also very overpriced). The younger woman making the sandwich named Julia asked me rudely how much tip you give me if I make sandwich ... That smacked of a greedy mercenary... That is both uncalled for and rude. The 2 younger (30 -something) Iraqi men who work here are, and have always been rude, arrogant, and condescending especially to Americans. Reverse racism in action They spend their entire time yelling in Arabic to each other, ignoring customers. What was once a well-run family business has been run into to the ground by the younger generation that has no respect has no concept of kindness to customers and could care less about their elder family members investments. The people preparing food dont even wear gloves or hair nets, in violation of health regulations, I found a hair on my sandwich.Despite several complaints the staff allowed some filthy homeless woman to unload and organize, in tweaker fashion, all of her shopping cart belongings blocking the door and part of the deli eating area. Obviously, they have no standards, and do not care a bit about their regular normal customers.

Went to the store looking for some dressy shoes for toddlers. Was told bluntly to look at Target or JC Penney - since they dont sell kids shoes. Ok, thats fine, but what we were looking for would have been more suited for this type of store rather than the boring shoes at a department store. No biggy... Well check Amazon... The worst part of our visit happened while I was trying on suits. When I spend $$ on a suit that I will wear often, I dont mind being picky about the fit. For reference, I wear suits on a daily basis. The gentleman helping me, measured my size and pointed me in the right direction. As it goes with suits, not all suits are created equally and you may have to look at sizes above and below your fit to find something that really fits well. Understood... I also know when a suit fits and when it doesnt. I was given suits WAY too big and was told that the fit was perfect. Given another one that was WAY TOOOOO tight and the salesperson puffed and said thats how folks like them these days. Ok, thats fine, but Im not spending $$ on something that cant even be tailored to my liking. I finally found one brand where the jacket fit nicely and then tried the pants on. I just didnt care for the fit and feel of the pants. When I said so, the salesman barked WHY!. Uhhh... Do I really need to give an explanation? I know, Im old school but given my size, I prefer a pleated dress pant and YES those are hard to find nowadays and occasionally a flat front fits fine, but not these. When I told the gentleman that, he puffed again that I will have a hard time finding anything that works. He then left me standing there and went to help other customers. No good bye, thanks for visiting, etc. I KNOW Im picky, and tried to be as polite as possible. But the service was SOOO rude from the start, that I will not return to this store.

Great customer service, they really did their best to accommodate my last minute request even though they were already extremely busy. First good sign was the very friendly and welcoming energy the second I stepped through the door, secondly they made my life SO much easier preparing for my wedding. They were highly recommended to me by a friend who I trust to give me only the best recommendations when it comes to local business recommendations, glad I trusted him and came here, they are GREAT! They even had my things ready to go and be picked up two days earlier than expected, which I really appreciated. I will be coming back to this place only for my dry cleaning and alteration needs. Thank you ?.

I would not recommend this shop for alterations. I had three pairs of work pants altered. On my first visit, I was quoted incorrectly on cost and time of completion. I was told it would be a week and $11 a pair for an “original” hem. So we marked them for hemming, I requested a little long as I typically do, so they do not ride up. We checked them in the mirror with my work boots to make sure it looked the way I like, and that day they did. Then I was told it would be $22/ pair and 2 weeks. I was not happy but I agreed. On my second visit I picked up the pants and brought them home. Tried them on and they ended up longer than the visual inspection from the sizing day. I called the store they told me it would be free to fix because I had the work done there.I went in for my third visit to have them fixed. The person I worked with originally, said he wanted to go shorter and it was my request to go “longer” I said I was aware of that, however they ended up longer than the original visual inspection and I was unhappy with the work. I was informed “it was my fault, and I would have to pay again.” Bottom line these pants ended up too long, and not where we originally marked them. The tailor told me “he was right and I was wrong, if I listened they would have come out perfect.” I would say with a statement like this, coupled with this business owner's very unprofessional response, I would say he maliciously hemmed my pants longer than we marked, because I didn't agree with his first mark and because there was disagreement about the price and time on the day of marking. Or perhaps he made a mistake with the mark, if you read the reviews, this wouldn't be the first time they messed up lengths on hems. All I know is this shop over charges, then when they have an unhappy customer, they blame the customer. Read their reviews, then read how the owner responds. I'm not trying to hurt a small business, just trying to get what I paid for. My tailor back home would not have made this mistake and if she had she would fix it without trying to double charge me. These pants DO NOT sit where they were marked on my first visit. How can you trust a business or business man that trashes customers when they are unhappy, the level of unprofessionalism is quite appalling.
